Alpha meteorologist Giorgos Tsatrafyllias discusses the weather conditions expected during Christmas and New Year’s, describing “cloudy and rainy weather.” Tsatrafyllias notes that as we approach Christmas, the weather will be rainy. “Most rainfall during the Tuesday-Thursday period will occur in western-northern-eastern Aegean-Dodecanese regions (P-type weather pattern). Snow will fall in mountainous areas and ski resorts. Temperatures will become slightly more winter-like.”

He also notes that “from Friday and the weekend, weather conditions will improve. The year 2025 will end with colder temperatures and possibly snow surprises!”

Temporarily increased cloudiness in eastern regions and Ionian islands, where local rainfall will occur. Isolated thunderstorms will develop in Crete, Dodecanese and possibly southern Ionian and southern Cyclades.
Winds will blow easterly-southeasterly in western areas and northerly-northeasterly in eastern areas at 3-5 and locally 6 Beaufort in open seas.
Visibility will be locally limited during morning hours on mainland areas, with possible fog formation in western mainland and Thessaly.
Temperature will not show significant change, reaching 14 degrees in northern areas, 16-17 degrees in remaining regions, and 18 degrees Celsius in southern island areas.
MACEDONIA, THRACE
Weather: Few clouds, locally increased.
Winds: Northerly-northeasterly 3-4 and 5 temporarily locally 6 Beaufort in eastern areas.

Snow will fall in central and northern mainland mountains, and during evening hours sporadic thunderstorms, possibly locally strong, will occur in Ionian islands.
