The autopsy performed on Tuesday shed light on the cause of death of the 43-year-old boxer, who attacked a doctor at Aigio Hospital on Friday and was found dead at his home on Sunday. The examination of P.N.’s body revealed that he died from peritonitis and an ischemic episode, according to tempo24news. The initial incident occurred on Friday morning when the 43-year-old (who had previous convictions and had served prison time) came to the hospital for examination. According to reports, he strongly disagreed with the doctor about how to handle his medical problem, with the argument quickly escalating into a violent attack.
Police were immediately notified and opened a case file for the incident. However, the perpetrator had already left the hospital and was being sought as part of the criminal proceedings. Reports indicate that he remained in hiding for the following days to avoid arrest, and was eventually found dead at his home on Sunday afternoon by family members.
Aigio: The doctor’s complaint about the boxer
The doctor who was attacked reported the incident. Based on his statements to MEGA, the patient-boxer attacked him when he got up from his desk, because he thought the doctor was going to attack him. “This man was frightened by some movement I made. He was scared when I got up from my desk, meaning he thought I was going to hit him. He had the mind of a small child. I’ve never seen him in my life. He thought that when I got up, I would hit him. Do we hit patients? You might hurt him during examination, I might hurt him. That’s different,” said the attack victim.
