The case of €140,000 embezzlement from Chania Hospital reached its final judgment, with the Three-Member Court of Appeals for Felonies finding the former hospital lawyer guilty. The 75-year-old is accused of collecting rental income from two hospital-owned properties for a decade without remitting the funds to the institution.
At the start of proceedings, the defendant admitted to the crime, stating he has already returned €20,000 and intends to pay back the full amount through the sale of property he owns. The embezzlement was discovered in 2020 by the hospital administration, which immediately proceeded with all required legal actions.
