Storm Byron continues to batter large parts of the country, including Attica, where it is causing serious problems. Since the early morning hours, heavy rainfall and thunderstorms have swept western Attica, particularly Megara, Nea Peramos and Mandra. The intense rains have turned streets into torrents, while fallen trees and flooding phenomena are significantly hampering traffic and residents’ daily lives.
The 112 emergency service sent urgent alerts to residents in Lakka Kalogirou and Almyres, urging them to move from basements and ground floors to higher floors due to increased flood risk.
