The fatal accident in Loutsa takes a new turn as it’s revealed that the 29-year-old who caused the death of a 24-year-old after his reckless driving was reportedly carrying drugs. Specifically, according to a Mega TV report, when police officers asked the 29-year-old if he had consumed alcohol, he reportedly stated that he had not drunk alcohol but had used substances, without specifying exactly what.
As reported by MEGA television station, minutes after the tragic accident occurred, police officers informed the 29-year-old that a person had been killed in the accident he caused. What creates a painful impression is that he simply responded “guys, let me see what damage my car has“.
Fatal traffic accident in Loutsa: The timeline
The reckless course of the vehicle driven by the 29-year-old is captured frame by frame by a security camera. In the video evidence obtained by MEGA, the driver appears to lose control of the vehicle within seconds. The car veers off and crashes violently into four pedestrians standing on the sidewalk next to their parked vehicle.
Scenes of ancient tragedy follow: a 24-year-old young man succumbs to his injuries next to his 22-year-old sister, his 21-year-old girlfriend, and his 57-year-old mother, who have been injured.
Seconds before the fatal moment, the 29-year-old driver, unrestrained, executes a dangerous maneuver to avoid a vehicle emerging from a narrow street. He loses control and his blue car first crashes into a parked vehicle.
Without reducing speed at all, he continues his reckless course and a few meters down crashes violently into the second vehicle, causing the fatal accident.
The words of the 29-year-old victim’s mother
The mother of the 29-year-old tells Live News, shocked:
“I’m sorry but I can’t talk to anyone about anything. I’m very upset.”
The descriptions by a rescuer of the 29-year-old’s first reactions, minutes after the tragedy he had caused, have also created a sensation in recent hours.
“The police were there and told him you’ve caused a death and he was holding his head and looking at the car to see what damage it had.”
According to information, the first breathalyzer test performed on the 29-year-old came back negative, however authorities are awaiting the results of toxicological examinations, which will show if he was under the influence of substances at the time of the accident.
“The 24-year-old’s mother was in a state of shock. Neighbors threw blankets over them, they were holding his girlfriend in their arms who had injuries to her temple and leg. We kept calling for the ambulance to come quickly. The rescuer asked him ‘do you know you’ve killed a person?’ and the driver replied ‘yes, my ear hurts, can we look at it?’. I don’t think he understood what he had done, I saw him fine, he wasn’t in shock. He went and looked at what damage his car had suffered,” says an eyewitness.
The 2020 accident and the 29-year-old driver

The father of the young man who had been injured in 2020 also spoke to Live News. The tragedy in Loutsa awakened within him a nightmare that for years, as he says, haunted his thoughts:
“We’re close, we heard sirens and so on, anyway we also live in Loutsa. What does the police do? From the moment one accident happened, then another accident, and they leave him his license, it’s their right to do whatever they want“.
