Tomorrow, Friday, the 46-year-old confessed perpetrator of the murder of her 75-year-old mother-in-law in Salamina will testify before the Piraeus investigator, in a case that has shocked the entire nation. The defendant’s lawyer, Vasilis Taoxis, spoke to MEGA about the case, noting that “she was addicted to gambling” and that “she has no intention of invoking various circumstances to ‘get off easy.'”
“Yesterday we didn’t appear before the prosecutor, but we appeared procedurally before the investigator to get a postponement until tomorrow. We couldn’t speak while waiting, she wasn’t in a state where she could communicate with us. Her appearance was terrible, she was in a state of collapse and was being supported by police officers. I have no picture of her previous behavior and activities. We are reading the case file with my colleagues, and there are many issues that need to be answered. Many theories have been said about the incident and everyone gives their own opinion. No one disputes the excellent work of the Homicide Department, no one disputes the sincerity of the defendant who, in two investigative procedures, fully confessed her guilt,” emphasized Mr. Taoxis.
“My client has nothing more to say than what she said in her pre-trial testimonies – confessions. She has no intention of invoking various circumstances pretextually to ‘get off easy.’ The information we have is that she was addicted to gambling and owed a lot of money. It doesn’t emerge from the confession and pre-investigation that she took jewelry from the house. She entered the house with the goal of theft, she assumed there was jewelry, she didn’t know the grandmother’s financial situation,” continued Mr. Taoxis.
Salamina: “Gambling is a psychiatric disorder, but this doesn’t constitute homicidal behavior”
Psychologist-Psychotherapist Vasilena Stavropoulou spoke to “Society Hour MEGA” about the 46-year-old confessed murderer.
“We’ve seen this theater in other heinous family crimes. What we recognize is the ruthless aspect of this woman even when her mother-in-law was pleading, she didn’t stop. Mental illness is one thing, a psychiatric case is another, and bad character and personality traits that constitute homicidal behavior are another. Gambling is indeed a psychiatric disorder. Beyond that, this doesn’t constitute homicidal behavior. She is a dangerous personality, and what she accuses others of, for example regarding foreigners, she executed herself. What we’re discussing today is the result of a character that has been built over the years. Gambling is not the core,” she emphasized characteristically.
Vice President of P.O.AS.Y. on Salamina: “There were amateurish mistakes, it doesn’t appear there’s an accomplice”
The vice president of P.O.AS.Y, Christos Syndrebelis stated for his part: “Let’s congratulate the people from Homicide and Criminal Investigations because they were important services for binding the case file. To manage to extract a confession, two things have happened: either she feels remorse or the case file will be so tight that there will be irrefutable evidence and she’ll be forced to confess to later show her remorse in court. My personal belief is that from the first moment the 46-year-old was in the frame. There were amateurish mistakes, as she tried to cover some traces. I consider her departure from the residence a significant element as she was identified at the location and place at the time of the crime. She hadn’t calculated that. It doesn’t appear there’s an accomplice.”
