The two children of the 75-year-old woman in Salamis are in shock after the revelation that the person who murdered her inside her home on the last day of October is her own daughter-in-law. The 46-year-old Rozalia, the woman who “broke down” crying at the elderly woman’s funeral, the person who gave without any hesitation the material from the security cameras via her mobile phone and answered all the police officers’ questions, without a trace of pain.
She is the wife, through civil marriage, of one of the two children of the unfortunate 75-year-old woman and a former candidate with the Nazi party “Golden Dawn”. Mainly, however, it was proven from the result that she is a ruthless woman who, because of her debts from online gambling to which she is addicted, including money from the family budget, thought to steal from her own mother-in-law in order to cover the… black hole.
How the murder in Salamis happened
The unfortunate woman was murdered on October 31 inside her home in Salamis. The police officers about a week after the murder began to realize that the perpetrator was in the 75-year-old’s environment. The crime occurred on a day when the woman who cared for the elderly woman was away from the house.
The police had the impression that the then-unknown perpetrator had taken care to turn the cameras that existed in her house to another point, so that his movements would not be recorded. He broke the window glass, came face to face with the elderly woman, killed her and robbed her. The elderly woman was found by her daughter, who together with her murderer had been searching for her for hours. In her statement, the 46-year-old was cold, showing no signs of shock or other emotions.
Salamis: The evidence that revealed the perpetrator’s identity
Time began to run backwards for the 46-year-old when evidence began to appear that led to her. She had the application for her mother-in-law’s cameras on her mobile phone. She had taken care to deactivate the security cameras of her house before going out to go to the elderly woman’s house and before returning, so that her movements would not be recorded. She spoke in a low voice to the elderly woman during her 40-minute stay in the house, obviously knowing that the cameras also record sound.
The police have in their possession the material from the security camera of the elderly woman’s house, where they were terrified to find that for almost 40 minutes the perpetrator was hitting the elderly woman with incredible fury. The latter could be heard at intervals saying “I have no money, my boy”, “don’t hurt me”, “don’t hit me anymore”, while just a few seconds before her cold-blooded murder the 75-year-old woman can be heard chanting the “I believe in one God”. A chilling moment of the recording that left the police officers who heard it stunned. Shortly after, the repeated blows with the knife from her murderer can be heard.
An important element of the investigation concerned the hatred unleashed by the then-unknown perpetrator on the defenseless woman. Such violent attacks and murders are rarely recorded in police chronicles by strangers to their victims. Usually, these are people from the circle, people who have personal differences with their victims, mainly hatred, investigators from the Homicide department who have handled similar cases in the past noted meaningfully.
The wounds to the head, neck and chest were multiple and severe. When the police officers now focused on the person of the 46-year-old former candidate with the Nazi party “Golden Dawn”, they rushed to search her vehicle as well. A black Skoda Fabia, owned by her father, which he had given her. There, they found blood stains belonging to the 75-year-old. The evidence was now abundant and clear.
On Monday evening, the police officers went to her house and asked her to follow them allegedly for some clarifications. As soon as she crossed the threshold of the Crimes Against Life department of the Organized Crime Combat Directorate, she realized that the clarifications were just a pretext. A few minutes of conversation and she broke down and confessed the act with considerable detail.
46-year-old: “I owed money because of my problem”
The confessed murderer claimed that she had no intention of killing her mother-in-law, but believed that she recognized her and could not leave room for her to “rat her out” to her husband and the police. The 46-year-old claimed that the unfortunate woman had lent them 10,000 euros, which were… lost under unclear circumstances.
The couple managed to collect 8,000 euros and handed them over to her, with her son promising that he would soon return the remaining two thousand. He himself managed to collect an amount of about 1,100 euros, which however the perpetrator herself claimed she stole and spent on gambling. She believed she would win, but on the contrary, not even a euro remained.
To prevent her husband from discovering the theft, she decided to invade her mother-in-law’s house, who already had the 8,000 euros. According to her statement, she found no money during her searches and despite her intense pressure on the 75-year-old. Her husband and son of the murdered woman cannot believe that 46-year-old Rozalia is behind the savage crime. The accused is expected to be led to the Piraeus Prosecutor charged with Homicide, robbery and violations of the “Weapons Law” and is expected to request a deadline through her lawyers in order to prepare her defense.
