Authorities have arrested the driver who caused chaos on national highways early Saturday morning, when it was discovered that he was traveling at 230 kilometers per hour, significantly above the permitted speed limit. Parapolitika.gr obtained video footage from the traffic police checkpoint that used speed control radar to scan the vehicle moving at breakneck speed on the Athens-Lamia National Highway. At that location, the speed limit does not exceed 100 kilometers per hour, with the reckless driver exceeding it by 130 kilometers per hour.
As you can see from the video, at the moment of radar detection by the traffic police unit, a motorcycle officer riding a high-displacement motorcycle began pursuit to immobilize the vehicle, which was accomplished several kilometers later. During the breathalyzer test, it was determined that the driver was also under the influence of alcohol.
The driver was arrested and is being brought before the courts for further proceedings.
