Extension until April 30, 2026 for the “Changing Heating System and Water Heaters” program, giving households more time to apply for energy upgrade subsidies. The extension announcement came after the second amendment Joint Ministerial Decision was signed, accompanied by budget increases and updated documentation requirements. The decision was made to meet increased demand — particularly for heat pumps, which represent the new “green” choice for home heating, according to the Ministry of Environment and Energy. More than 192,000 applications have already been submitted, demonstrating the program’s significant popularity.
Subsidies up to €7,440
With the new decision, the program’s total budget increases from €223.2 million to €647.1 million (including VAT). The subsidies cover up to €1,040 for solar water heaters and up to €7,440 for heat pumps, depending on income and beneficiary category. The program offers substantial financial relief to households wanting to reduce their energy costs and invest in more efficient and environmentally friendly systems.
Subsidized expenses
Purchasing new modern solar water heaters is subsidized by 50%, while families with annual income up to €10,000 (or individual income up to €5,000) receive 60% support.
Subsidized expenses include:
- Purchase of new state-of-the-art solar water heaters.
- Purchase of heat pump systems (air-to-water, geothermal or external units). In both cases, subsidies range between 50% and 60%, depending on income criteria.
