Night electricity rates: How the schedule works
-The midday zone is from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m.
-The night zone is from 2 a.m. – 5 a.m.
The purpose of the dual-zone reduced pricing system is to provide consumers with access to electricity during the hours when it’s cheapest.
Citizens can check whether they have night electricity rates using one of the following methods:
-Through the DEDDIE website. Citizens enter their supply number and check if they have dual-zone billing.
-Through an electricity bill statement. The bill shows an “N” (e.g., TARIFF: G1N Residential Tariff) and there’s a separate charge for nighttime hours.
-Through the installation panel. There’s a separate consumption meter reading or a light that turns on during the hours when night electricity rates are active.
-Through their provider. Citizens can contact them directly and ask if they have this service.
The change
The switch to the new night electricity schedule happens automatically, and citizens don’t need to take any action.
However, there are consumers with old meters who won’t be automatically included in the new system. If citizens belong to this group, they can submit a relevant application to DEDDIE for meter replacement at no cost.
The application
Citizens can apply for night electricity rates:
-Either electronically through the DEDDIE app.
-Or by calling the toll-free number 800 400 4000.
