The €250 bonus for retirees will be paid automatically in November, without requiring an application. Approximately 1.1 million low-income pensioners aged 65 and over will receive the annual tax-free benefit, which constitutes a permanent support measure. The payment of the €250 bonus to retirees is scheduled between November 10 and 20. According to the Ministry of Finance, the payment will be made directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts, while the process will be fully automated.
€250 bonus: Beneficiaries and income limits
The €250 bonus is targeted at three categories of beneficiaries:
- Low-income pensioners from all insurance funds.
- Disability benefit recipients.
- Uninsured elderly citizens.
The income criteria for the €250 bonus are set at €14,000 annually for single-person households and €26,000 for married retirees. Additionally, the real estate property limit is set at €200,000 and €300,000 respectively.
Automatic process without bureaucracy
As emphasized by Deputy Finance Minister Georgios Kotsiras, retirees do not need to submit an application for the €250 bonus. Beneficiary data will be automatically drawn from EFKA and AADE, ensuring speed and accuracy of the process.
Permanent status and double amount for couples
The €250 bonus has permanent status and will be paid annually to a total of 1.4 million beneficiaries. A significant advantage is that for retired couples who meet the criteria, the amount doubles to €500. The benefit is tax-free and is not offset against debts to the State.
