Without any changes, both regarding the allowance amount (from €100 up to €1,200 for particularly cold regions of the country) and income and property criteria, the heating allowance will be granted for the new period 2025-2026 to more than 1.2 million households.
From October 15, heating oil distribution begins, with prices ranging between €1 and €1.10 per liter. The electronic platform myHeating is expected to open within November, and households will have time until early December to submit applications.
The first payment is calculated to be made before Christmas holidays. The procedure, deadlines and all details for the heating allowance payment, totaling €195 million, will be determined by a Joint Ministerial Decision expected to be issued within October.
How to receive the heating allowance
Households need to know the following to receive the heating allowance:
1. Applications on the AADE myHeating platform are submitted for one primary residence.
2. Heating allowance is granted to natural persons who are single, married, widowed, in civil partnerships, separated or divorced, who consume heating oil, kerosene (blue kerosene), natural gas, LPG, firewood, biomass (pellets), district heating or electricity for heating and meet the criteria. For married persons or those in civil partnerships, the beneficiary is the person obligated to submit the income tax return or one of the two in case of separate filing.
3. The total annual household income, regardless of source, actual and deemed, amounts to up to €16,000 for single persons and €24,000 for married persons, increased by €5,000 for each child. For single-parent families, this income amounts to up to €29,000, increased by €5,000 for each child after the first. For those conducting business activities, total gross revenues from business activities of the taxpayer, spouse or civil partner and dependent children must not exceed €80,000.
4. The total value of real estate property cannot exceed €200,000 for single persons, those widowed or separated, and €260,000 for married persons or civil partners and single-parent families. The amount increases by €40,000 for each dependent child.
5. The total allowance amount cannot be less than €100, nor exceed €800. Due to increased energy needs in settlements (Elati, Papigko, Kozani, etc.) where the climate coefficient (CC) is greater than or equal to one (1), the allowance amount increases by 25% reaching a maximum of €1,000. Due to even higher energy needs in settlements (Metsovo, Velouchi, Nymfaio, Nevrokopi, Pertouli, etc.) where the climate coefficient (CC) is greater than or equal to 1.2, the allowance increases by an additional 25% reaching €1,200.
