On October 9, on Syngrou Avenue, the first cruise journey on land will begin, titled «The Voyage», with the Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) welcoming foreign and Greek travelers at the Eugenides Foundation. This is an original concept inspired by CLIA members aimed at offering knowledgeable visitors, experienced or not, an enjoyable journey into the captivating world of cruising.
The first land cruise “The Voyage”
According to CLIA representatives, this is a special exhibition that will run until January 9, 2026 and through interactive elements and innovations, visitors will have the opportunity to discover the new era of «green» cruising. After all, as CLIA members say, today there are more than 300 ocean cruise ships and thousands of available itineraries with the goal of always having a cruise for everyone: from families and groups to those seeking high-level cultural journeys.
«We are particularly pleased to host “The Voyage” exhibition at the Eugenides Foundation, through whose interactive approach the role of cruising as a lever for innovation, sustainability and economic development in Europe is highlighted», commented Ioannis Golias, director of the Eugenides Foundation, emphasizing that the Eugenides Foundation operates as a bridge of communication and connection between the public and critical issues concerning sustainable development, skills enhancement, and understanding the challenges of the modern world.

«We are very happy to join forces with the Eugenides Foundation to highlight the cruise industry’s success story in Greece in an interactive way», commented Maria Deligianni, CLIA director for the Eastern Mediterranean, explaining that the upcoming exhibition is part of the second phase of CLIA’s new campaign titled «All aboard Greece». «Through the voices of people who play a decisive role in ports and local communities, we hear the story of cruise tourism» she added.
At the same time, within the framework of the campaign «All Aboard Greece», CLIA is also inaugurating a Cruise Info Hub for Greece, which will be available through the Voyage as well as online. We remind that CLIA launched the first part of the campaign in late July, calling on government representatives, Local Government, Port Authorities and tourism organizations to collaborate with cruise suppliers and professionals. «Through this second phase of our campaign, we hear the story of cruise tourism through the voices of people who play a decisive role in ports and local communities» concluded M. Deligianni.
Over 60% of travelers worldwide would take their first cruise
According to CLIA data, cruising continues to be one of the most dynamic and resilient sectors of tourism, with growth that keeps pace with the high demand for cruise vacations, particularly among younger generations and first-time cruise travelers. It constitutes a substantial driver of economic development, contributing over $168 billion to communities worldwide, with 1.6 million jobs.
Indeed, 82% of those who have traveled on a cruise say they are willing to do it again, while 68% of travelers worldwide are considering taking their first cruise. As for Greece, the economic contribution to the economy amounts to 2 billion euros, confirming the country’s dynamic as a top destination in the Eastern Mediterranean.
