A legislative framework that will ensure complete anonymity for whistleblowers is currently in preparation, paving the way for bonus payments through the appodixi app, as announced by AADE administrator Giorgos Pitsilis. Speaking to Open TV, Mr. Pitsilis emphasized that the main problem until now has been that the current framework does not provide anonymity. Given that many reports of fake receipts through the appodixi app are connected to smuggling networks and serious criminal activity, there is risk for those who report using their real names.

Reports on appodixi have exceeded 200,000
However, the new framework will ensure that payments (where conditions are met for bonus eligibility) will be made without revealing the citizen’s identity. So far, added Giorgos Pitsilis, the total number of reports has exceeded 200,000. The connection of POS systems with cash registers has yielded results, but this doesn’t mean there isn’t still the technical possibility for POS systems to be connected to foreign accounts, which is prohibited since the transaction isn’t taxed. Under AADE’s microscope, he noted, are such cases of businesses connected to “straw men.”
In the same context, “Operation Summer” included on-site inspections in more than 26,000 cases, with a violation rate of 36%, leading to 250 business closures. Regarding challenges to tax assessments by freelancers, Giorgos Pitsilis noted that previously they concerned 6 out of 1,000 taxpayers (more than 1,000 people), while this year they are limited to just 700, with the deadline expiring on September 29. Additionally, many of these were justified.
Finally, regarding rent returns and the declaration of actual rental amounts, Giorgos Pitsilis emphasized that MIDAS will contribute in this direction. In fact, he revealed that AADE already proceeds with rent adjustments when there is a very low declared rent with a large deviation from the property’s objective value, in order to calculate the tax.
