Salary increases for **uniformed personnel**, averaging 110 euros per month, were announced on Monday morning (8/9) by Minister of National Economy and Finance Kyriakos Pierrakakis, detailing the economic measures presented by the Prime Minister from the podium of the **Thessaloniki International Fair**. The total number of Armed Forces and Security Corps personnel is 151,422 and is distributed as follows

Today we have a common salary scale with four (4) categories for the salary classification of Armed Forces and Security Corps personnel.
Category A: personnel from Higher Military Educational Institutions or corresponding Officer Training Schools of the Hellenic Police, Coast Guard and Fire Service, those directly appointed or through examination to the Officers Corps and Common Corps from their designation as officers, special duty officers of the Hellenic Police with university degrees and Special Services officers of the Fire Service, as well as the Hellenic Police and Coast Guard. This category also includes those coming from Warrant Officers and permanent non-commissioned officers who transfer to the Officers Corps of the Armed Forces and Security Corps.
Category B: Non-commissioned officers, Warrant Officers and Officers from the non-commissioned officer training schools of the Armed Forces, officers under law decree 649/1970, non-commissioned officers, deputy police officers and corresponding officers from training or non-training schools of the Security Corps as well as police officers, firefighters and coast guards of the same Corps.
Category C: personnel originating from various voluntary service programs, as well as police personnel from Category D.
Category D: Special Guards – Border Guards of the Hellenic Police.
In Category A there are 35 pay grades, in Category B 28 pay grades, in Category C 22 pay grades and in Category D 18 pay grades.

New uniformed personnel salary scale from October
From October, the uniformed personnel salary scale is being reformed, based on years of service and rank, and on average for them the increases will reach 110 euros per month. While for senior officers they will exceed 200 euros depending on rank,” noted Mr. Pierrakakis among other things.
This framework also includes measures such as increasing conscript compensation and improving foreign service allowances for diplomats in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Additionally, the Finance Minister announced that super tax deductions are being established in a series of strategic sectors related to defense and technology, such as weapons and ammunition manufacturing, motor vehicle manufacturing, aircraft and related machinery manufacturing, among others. “With all these we want to invest in the defense industry, as an opportunity especially now that this is entering the discussion at the European level,” emphasized Mr. Pierrakakis.
New Armed Forces personnel salary scale
Specifically, based on the announcements:
- In the new Armed Forces salary scale, basic salary will be determined based on years of service and an increase will be applied to the resulting amount with a coefficient depending on rank.
- The logic of pay grades changes. There will now be pay grades that depend only on years of service and the rank-based increase will be applied on top of these.
- Pay grades are reduced from 35 to 20.
- The Armed Forces ranking system is being reformed.
- Based on the new ranking system, differentiation is created in rank-based increases for Categories B and C for future years.
New Security Corps salary scale
- The Police, Fire Service and Coast Guard also transition to the new salary scale structure.
- The basic salary increase based on years of service is the same as that of the Armed Forces.
- The rank increase coefficient is slightly differentiated, taking into account the different rank progression between the corps.

In addition to changes in the Armed Forces and Security Corps salary structure affecting basic salary, the responsibility position allowance is increased.
