“We have found increases in school supplies ranging from 3.85 to 54.24%, and we’re talking about essential school items,” emphasized Apostolos Rautopoulos, president of the Union of Working Consumers of Greece, speaking on Parapolitika 90.1 radio show “Opposite Microphones” with journalists Sotiris Xenakis and Vasilis Skouris.

Additionally, Mr. Rautopoulos noted that inflation in the eurozone stands at 2.1%, while in Greece it reaches 3.1%.

A. RAUTOPOULOS: Inflation in the eurozone is at 2.1%, while in Greece it’s at 3.1%. We see that we are much higher compared to the eurozone regarding inflation. According to data from the monthly research conducted by IELKA, out of the 23 categories monitored on a monthly basis, 17 categories show increases and only 6 show decreases. In many products, increases have occurred ranging from 0.9% to 11.31%.

RAUTOPOULOS: We have confirmed that after the agreement made by the Development Minister with supermarket chain representatives, we saw that this commitment they gave to the minister was not honored.
