Share prices closed with significant losses, although they recovered a large portion of their initial declines towards closing. The market moved in a downward trajectory for the third consecutive session, during which the main stock index recorded total losses of 3.44%, while the market’s total capitalization has decreased by €4.4 billion. Among high capitalization stocks, shares of Cyprus, OPAP and ELPE closed with positive signs today, while Alpha Bank, Aegean and GEK TERNA shares faced the greatest pressure.
The General Price Index closed at 2,043.27 points, recording a decline of 1.28%. During the session it recorded a lower price at 2,024.17 points (-2.20%) and a higher price at 2,077.70 points (+0.34%).
The value of transactions amounted to €222.21 million, while 38,324,232 shares were traded.
The high capitalization index declined by 1.35%, while the mid-cap index fell by 0.76%.
Among high capitalization stocks, shares of Cyprus (+0.78%), OPAP (+0.31%) and ELPE (+0.17%) recorded gains.
Conversely, the biggest declines were recorded by Alpha Bank (-3.51%), Aegean Airlines (-2.43%), GEK TERNA (-2.01%), Eurobank (-1.85%), Jumbo (-1.80%), Piraeus (-1.77%) and Elvalhalcor (-1.74%).
The largest trading volumes were presented by Alpha Bank and Eurobank, trading 10,399,972 and 6,891,140 shares respectively.
The highest transaction values were recorded by Alpha Bank with €35.96 million and National Bank with €32.64 million.
22 stocks moved upward, 91 declined and 13 remained stable.
The biggest gains were recorded by: Leventeris(c) (+6.06%) and Mouzakis(c) (+5.56%).
The biggest declines were recorded by: Xylemporia(p) (-5.88%) and Kekrops (-4.82%).
