Applications have officially opened for a new financial support program aimed at strengthening the demographic development of Evros. Interested parties can now apply for funding up to €10,000 for their permanent relocation to the region.

Financial support amounts for Evros relocation
The financial support varies according to the population of the chosen settlement. Specifically, beneficiaries receive €10,000 when selecting a settlement with up to 500 residents, while the amount decreases to €6,000 for larger settlements. Additionally, extra funding of €1,000 is provided for each minor family member, with a maximum limit of ten thousand euros in total.
Implementation of demographic development program
The demographic development program comes into effect following a joint ministerial decision signed by six ministers and deputy ministers. Funding comes from the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family with a total budget of 10 million euros, while benefit payments are made through OPEKA.
Areas participating in the program
The municipalities participating in the initiative include:
• Municipality of Soufli with the municipal units of Orfeas, Soufli and Tychero
• Municipality of Didymoteicho with the municipal units of Didymoteicho and Metaxades
• Municipality of Orestiada with the municipal units of Orestiada, Vyssa, Trigono and Kyprinos
The application submission process
Interested parties can submit their application electronically through the special platform relocation.vouchers.gov.gr. The program targets both single-person and multi-person households wishing to permanently settle in Evros.
Future program expansions
The relevant ministries emphasize that implementation in Evros constitutes a pilot program aimed at future expansion to other regional units facing demographic challenges. The government strategy focuses on creating comprehensive incentives to address demographic decline in remote areas of the country.
