A significant passenger traffic increase of 4.7% was recorded at Athens International Airport (AIA) this July, compared to the same month in 2025. Despite the challenges of the international geopolitical environment, a total of 3.93 million passengers passed through “Eleftherios Venizelos” airport, with domestic traffic rising by 3.4% and international traffic climbing by 5.3%.

Athens airport: Upward trajectory in the first seven months and flight growth
Overall, during the first seven months of 2026, the airport’s total passenger traffic reached 19.68 million, surpassing 2025 levels by 4.5%. Both domestic and international passenger traffic moved upward, exceeding 2025 levels by 4.7% and 4.4%, respectively.
The total number of flights at Athens International Airport during the first seven months of 2026 reached 165,771, marking a 3.8% increase compared to the corresponding 2025 figures. Domestic and international flights recorded growth of 4.7% and 3.3%, respectively.
