Starting today, Monday (July 21), the cruise passenger tax comes into effect, with every passenger disembarking from a cruise ship at any port in our country being charged a special fee.
This fee amounts to 20 euros per person for the ports of Mykonos and Santorini and 5 euros for all other ports.
Cruise passenger tax takes effect today
According to ERT reports, annual state revenues are expected to exceed 50 million euros, considering that last year approximately eight million visitors disembarked from cruise ships that docked at Greek ports.
It should be noted that Piraeus port alone welcomed more than 1.7 million visitors in 2024, with Santorini, Mykonos, Corfu and Heraklion following. The collected resources will fund the needs of municipalities where the disembarkation ports are located and will strengthen the state budget.
