The need for a clear plan, institutional seriousness and mutual trust in order to restart economic cooperation between Greece and Syria was emphasized by the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Yannis Bratakos. The statement was made following discussions with Anas Joud, president of the Latakia Chamber of Commerce.
According to a social media post by Mr. Bratakos, the meeting examined prospects for developing joint actions between the business communities of both countries, during a period when Syria is entering its reconstruction phase.
As announced by the ACCI president, the first step of the initiative will be organizing an informational event at the Chamber, aimed at networking representatives of Greek and Syrian business communities and presenting needs, opportunities and cooperation prerequisites.
Mr. Bratakos emphasized that strengthening extroversion and creating secure institutional channels for Greek businesses constitute a permanent priority for ACCI, stressing that the development of economic relations with Syria should be based on organized planning and a stable cooperation framework.
