Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance, Giorgos Kotsiras, spoke on Thursday morning (04/06) about the measures the government is preparing to implement to support households. In his television interview on ERTnews, Mr. Kotsiras emphasized that “the European Commission has practically and officially recognized the tremendous progress achieved by the Greek economy over all these years through the efforts of the Greek people and the government’s methodology,” while clarifying that “all the major reforms implemented in recent years to combat tax evasion, digitize the state, and reduce debt were recognized.”
Kotsiras: “We acknowledge citizens’ needs and concerns”
He emphasized that “Europe recognized that our country has no macroeconomic imbalances.” “Our country managed, after 2019, to achieve very serious stabilization and growth in the Greek economy, and we want this to be practically translated into supporting every Greek citizen. We acknowledge citizens’ needs and concerns and try to support every citizen without jeopardizing the future,” he added.
Reference to the government’s new bill
At the same time, Mr. Kotsiras noted that “the government is bringing an important bill that concerns a very large segment of citizens and includes regulations for private debt management, provisions dealing with addressing the housing problem, and there are also permanent support measures for low-income pensioners, families with children, and tenants.”
