From September, approximately 100,000 public sector and Armed Forces retirees are expected to see increases in their pensions, with retroactive amounts ranging from €1,200 to €3,500. This development concerns special categories of retirees whose benefits are linked to 80% of active employees’ salaries.
The relevant regulation is included in a Finance Ministry bill and provides for retroactive increases for public officials and employees who suffered disability above 67% or were deemed completely unable to work due to terrorist action during the execution of their duties. These specific categories had been exempted from the pension calculation method introduced by the Katrougkalos law, maintaining a special pension regime.
