The ordeal continues for thousands of Fuel Pass beneficiaries, as platform problems persist, with the system continuing to freeze during personal data verification. This stage has become a major “stumbling block” for citizens who, in their attempt to complete their application, receive messages directing them to Citizen Service Centers (KEP) for the process to continue.
Verification through the National Communication Registry (EMEp) is a mandatory requirement for granting the subsidy. The system activated by the Ministry of Digital Governance aims to cross-reference beneficiary data and limit instances of fraudulent subsidy claims that had been recorded in the past.
However, in practice, the process shows significant difficulties, as in many cases the sending of the required verification code to users is not completed. As a result, verification gets blocked and the platform directs citizens to KEP centers for physical confirmation of their details. This development has caused increased turnout at KEP centers across the country, with thousands of citizens attempting to resolve the issue on-site to prevent further delays in submitting their applications.
These problems add to the technical malfunctions that were recorded from the very first day of the platform’s operation, when the system crashed due to increased traffic. Despite efforts to relieve congestion by activating a new application submission model based on the last digit of beneficiaries’ Tax Registration Numbers, the situation remains fragile, with users continuing to face obstacles in completing the process.
Fuel Pass: Platform opens for all citizens tomorrow – 800,000 applications submitted so far
So far, applications have exceeded 800,000, reflecting drivers’ strong interest in the subsidy. Those who submitted applications on Holy Monday have already received the relevant amounts, while today, Holy Thursday, beneficiaries with tax numbers ending in 8, 9, and 0 have access to the platform. From Good Friday, April 10, the Fuel Pass platform will open for all citizens and will remain available until the end of the month.
Any natural person can submit an application for Fuel Pass, including freelancers who are tax residents of Greece. The requirement is that the family income they declared for 2024 should be up to €25,000 for unmarried individuals and up to €35,000 for married couples or those in civil unions. The amount is increased by €5,000 for each dependent child of the household. Specifically for single-parent families, the declared income limit amounts to €39,000 and is increased by €5,000 for each dependent member.
Regarding the subsidy amounts, these range from €25 to €60 for the two-month period of April-May, depending on the vehicle type, area of residence, and payment method. Credit is made within 48 hours of application approval.
