Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis addressed the controls and fines regarding the price cap on fuel. As he announced: “For these violations, administrative fines will be imposed on 13 gas stations, totaling €65,000.” More specifically, he revealed: “The Independent Market Control and Consumer Protection Authority carried out a coordinated control operation in Rhodes, where two-thirds of the fuel stations on the island were inspected. In 50% of these, significant violations of the maximum price cap were found in both unleaded gasoline and diesel, as well as failure to register data in the Fuel Price Observatory, in violation of related obligations.”

Additionally, he noted: “For these violations, administrative fines will be imposed on 13 gas stations, totaling €65,000. Meanwhile, last week 8 gas stations in the Attica region were found with significant violations of the fuel price cap law, and fines totaling €40,000 were imposed. The Authority systematically monitors the market and there will be absolutely no tolerance for phenomena of unfair profiteering and illegal product distribution.”
Mr. Marinakis also addressed the diesel subsidy: “As of yesterday, the diesel subsidy measure of 20 cents per liter was implemented, which is expected to contribute to an immediate reduction in fuel prices, while applications for the fuel pass for gasoline will begin next Monday.”
Finally, he noted that strict controls are being conducted on food products and basic goods in supermarkets. More than 100 food companies are under the scrutiny of the new Independent Market Control and Consumer Protection Authority. The controls will continue in the coming period, according to him.
