According to the announcement: “Clean Monday is not included among the official holidays defined by law for private sector workers.
Employees who work on this day, if they are daily wage earners, are entitled to their usual daily wage without additional increase (meaning they will not receive the 75% bonus). If they receive a monthly salary, they are not entitled to any additional compensation beyond their regular monthly salary.
However, private companies in Greece treat Clean Monday as a holiday when it has been designated as such by collective bargaining agreements, company work regulations, or established business custom and tradition, whereby the company remains closed on this day. When salaried employees do not work according to the above provisions, they will have no reduction in their salary, while those paid daily wages are entitled to receive their daily wage (Article 2, paragraph 3, Legislative Decree 3755/1955).
If a company operates this year as an exception (while in previous years it did not operate based on collective agreements, work regulations, business custom or tradition), then employees are entitled to salary increases for their work: 1/25 increase for salaried employees and one additional daily wage for those paid daily wages, with a 75% bonus on their earnings.
Information on collective bargaining agreements in force, as well as codifications of collective regulations, can be found on the OMED website at the following address: http://www.omed.gr/el/syllogikes-rythmiseis”.
