The Municipal Council decided to grant allowances to doctors and workers in Paros. As stated by the Mayor, Kostas Bizas, a monthly allowance of €250 is provided for rural doctors and €500 for auxiliary doctors at the Health Center. Mr. Bizas emphasized that the difficulty of finding housing, due to particularly high rents, combined with the large number of visitors reaching approximately 1.5 million tourists annually, makes this specific measure critically important for strengthening the healthcare system on the island of Paros.

Additionally, municipal employees who do not own their own residence and meet specific income criteria were included among the allowance beneficiaries, given that the majority of them are permanent residents of the island. According to the mayor, expansion of the measure to other categories of frontline workers, such as the Coast Guard and Fire Service, is being considered in the coming period.
