Detailed breakdown of the first heating allowance installment
The distribution of funds was based on the type of fuel used by each household. Specifically, 31.3 million euros were allocated to cover electricity expenses, while the largest portion, 92.9 million euros, was for heating oil and other fuels. The first installment corresponds to 60% of the total amount each household is entitled to for the 2024-2025 heating period.
When the next installments will be paid
The payment schedule provides for two more payments until April 2026. The second installment will be credited by May 29, 2026, and covers fuel, pellet, or wood purchases made until April 15, 2026, provided they have been declared in the system by April 30, 2026.
The third and final payment is scheduled for July 31, 2026, and exclusively covers households using natural gas or district heating. This specific installment covers consumption from October 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026. In total, the budget for the heating allowance amounts to 195 million euros and affects over 1.2 million households across the country.
How the heating allowance amount is calculated
The financial assistance ranges from 100 to 800 euros per household, while for residents in areas with particularly low temperatures it can reach up to 1,200 euros. The calculation is based on a specific mathematical formula that takes into account the Reference Amount multiplied by the Current Weather Conditions Coefficient of the residence area.
For each dependent child, a twenty percent increase on the basic amount is provided. In settlements where the Weather Conditions Coefficient is equal to or greater than 1, the heating allowance increases by 25% with a maximum limit of 1,000 euros. When the coefficient exceeds 1.2, an additional 25% increase applies and the maximum limit rises to 1,200 euros.
It is important to note that each beneficiary can choose only one type of fuel, district heating, or electricity for their heating allowance application. This choice must be declared when submitting the application on the digital platform of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue.
