More than 8,388 passengers are expected to arrive on Monday (16/6) at the port of Souda from three cruise ships, not including crew members, which constitutes a daily record of visitors from cruises, according to kriti360.gr. The same source emphasizes that this morning the ships “Disney Fantasy” with 3,498 passengers, “Azura” with 3,077, and “Marella Discovery 2” with 1,813 have docked or are expected to arrive.

The president of the Port Fund of Chania, Dimitris Virirakis, emphasized that this “impressive visitor traffic confirms the dynamic growth of cruise tourism in Chania, which essentially began only in 2011.”
“The level of difficulty is increasing for all of us, but the positive results give us courage and strength,” he added. Among other things, Dimitris Virirakis also noted that “the continuous increase in arrivals makes it necessary to expand and upgrade the port facilities of Souda.”
