Vehicle owners should keep in mind that the deadline for paying vehicle registration fees 2026 expires on December 31, 2025. Any delay results in the imposition of penalties, which increase gradually according to law 5113/2024, and can even lead to doubling the original amount.

How to pay vehicle registration fees 2026
Payment can be made in more than one way, depending on whether the owner has TAXISnet codes or not. Those who do not have access to TAXISnet can enter the special AADE application, fill in their tax number and vehicle registration number, print the notification and pay the fees at banks or at Hellenic Post. This process remains particularly useful for those who are not familiar with electronic services.
For users with TAXISnet codes, the digital platform myCAR offers the ability to pay without visiting the tax office. Through the application, owners can see all their vehicles, download the notification and non-debt certificate, and pay proportional fees by month for vehicles that are temporarily immobilized. Additionally, the ability to export payment codes for multiple vehicles and issue certificates for transfer or export is provided.
The notification includes a QR Code and unique payment code, facilitating the process through mobile banking or e-banking. With a simple scan, payment is completed without manual data entry. For those who choose credit card payment, the option to pay in up to 12 interest-free monthly installments is available.
Deadlines and penalties for delays
The deadline remains December 31, 2025. In case of late payment, penalties are structured gradually: in January 2026 a 25% surcharge is imposed, in February 50%, while from March onwards the penalty amounts to 100% of the fees, with a minimum amount of 30 euros. For example, for fees of 100 euros, after March 1, 2026 the total amount reaches 200 euros.
Timely payment remains the safest way to avoid charges. Using the myCAR platform and QR Code speeds up the process, while for vehicles that will not circulate all year, proportional payment per month can prove to be a more economical solution. With proper information and timely action, vehicle registration fees can be paid easily and without unpleasant surprises.
