Beyond Greek congratulations, Kyriakos Pierrakakis received praise from the European political world, which welcomed his upcoming presidency of the Eurogroup. The Greek minister received his first congratulations just minutes after his election from his Latvian counterpart, Arvils Ašeradens. Specifically, he wrote: “Congratulations, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, on your election as President of the Eurogroup. I wish you every success in leading the Eurogroup forward, to evolve, adapt, and meet the challenges ahead with clarity, purpose, and strong collective commitment.”

Meanwhile, former European Commission Vice-President and former Finance Minister of Latvia, Valdis Dombrovskis, wrote: “Congratulations Kyriakos Pierrakakis on your election as President of the Eurogroup. You take office at a pivotal moment for Europe and the European Union. I look forward to working closely with you to advance our work on key economic and financial priorities and strengthen Europe’s competitiveness.”

Additionally, Roberta Metsola expressed her congratulations, writing: “Congratulations Kyriakos Pierrakakis on your election as President of the Eurogroup. This result is a testament to Greece’s remarkable economic comeback and growth. The European Parliament will continue to be a strong partner as we work to strengthen Europe’s economy and enhance its competitiveness.”

Now Greek leadership takes the helm of the Eurogroup. Great news for Greece, Europe and the EPP,” wrote the President of the European People’s Party and the EPP Parliamentary Group in the European Parliament, Manfred Weber.

“I warmly congratulate the Greek Finance Minister, Kyriakos Pierrakakis, on his election as the new President of the Eurogroup. He has received broad support from Eurogroup members. I am convinced that we will continue our trusted cooperation in the Eurogroup with great success. We share the same goal: to make Europe stronger and more competitive. I would like to warmly thank the previous Eurogroup President Pascal Donohoe for his work. He successfully led the Eurogroup through difficult times and set the right priorities with issues such as competitiveness, the digital euro and capital markets union,” wrote Vice-Chancellor and Federal Finance Minister Lars Klingbeil.


“Congratulations Kyriakos Pierrakakis on your election as President of the Eurogroup! I look forward to working together with you to further strengthen the eurozone. Our shared efforts are essential for enhancing competitiveness and driving sustainable growth,” noted Luxembourg’s Finance Minister, Gilles Roth.
