Rakuten Viber has announced the launch of a new AI Link Summary feature that will leverage Artificial Intelligence. Specifically, this is a tool expected to make conversations more efficient and faster. This feature will automatically create a brief summary for every non-private link shared in conversations, allowing users to instantly understand the key points of an article or webpage without having to leave the chat.
It’s noteworthy that Viber is the first messaging platform to bring AI link summarization capabilities to market.
Rakuten Viber: How AI Link Summary will work
With AI Link Summary, as soon as someone sends a link, you see a short and understandable summary directly within Viber – whether it’s a lengthy article, blog post, or report. The feature includes automatic translation: if, for example, your app language is set to Greek and someone sends you an English link, the summary will appear in Greek.
The new feature is free and already available to all Viber users worldwide, across all conversation types: individual chats, groups, communities, and channels. The artificial intelligence technology processes only the link itself and has no access to your private messages. All private conversations on Viber remain fully protected with end-to-end encryption by default. The generated summary is visible exclusively to you as the requester and doesn’t appear to other conversation participants.
AI Link Summary represents the latest step in Viber’s strategy for widespread artificial intelligence adoption. In 2024, the company launched AI Conversation Summary, which automatically summarizes recent unread messages to help you quickly catch up on extensive conversations. More AI features will follow in the near future, always aimed at saving you time, making daily communication smarter, and improving your experience even further.
AI Link Summary: Rakuten Viber’s new feature now available globally
The feature is already available worldwide and will appear automatically in your app over the next few days. It’s part of the Rakuten Group’s Triple 20 initiative, which aims to increase efficiency by 20% in marketing, operations, and customer service through artificial intelligence.
