The holidays are synonymous with the warmth of home, the set table, and the moments we share with our loved ones. Based on this idea, IKEA presents, in collaboration with Swedish designer Gustaf Westman, a new collection that brings a fresh and playful look to traditional holidays. The collection includes twelve items for the home and table: porcelain plates and cups, candle holders, lighting fixtures, and a unique vase. The items combine functionality with expressive details while their aesthetic is characterized by Westman’s curves and sculptural forms combined with bold use of color. The palette combines classic red and green with pink and blue tones, offering an unexpected dimension to holiday decoration.

The standout pieces include porcelain plates in dark green and pink that combine square and round forms and can function individually or in combination to create a mosaic, as well as a special plate that honors IKEA’s iconic meatballs, commemorating forty years since their creation. A porcelain cup with an oversized saucer recalls Westman’s childhood memories of his grandmother’s sweets and is designed for traditional Swedish glögg. Light holds a central place in the series. It includes candle holders in two colors, porcelain candle bases that repeat the forms of the plates, a portable rechargeable lantern, and a modern version of the traditional Swedish window light. The collection’s vase consists of a metal spiral in an hourglass shape as a base for a distinctive glass container.

“The collaboration with Gustaf Westman was a natural choice to reimagine the holidays with a different perspective”
Maria O’Brian, IKEA Range Identity Leader, states: “The collaboration with Gustaf Westman was a natural choice to reimagine the holidays with a different perspective. His approach to color and form is very close to IKEA, but at the same time he dares to challenge conventions in a dynamic, expressive way.”

Westman himself explains: “For me, this was an opportunity to take the traditional aesthetic of Christmas decorations and subvert it, introducing a mood of playfulness and boldness. This is my interpretation of the holidays, a new design for a new generation.”
The collection marks Gustaf Westman’s first collaboration with IKEA in product design and will be available from November 5, 2025, in limited availability exclusively at IKEA.gr. Learn more here.
