Faithful to its commitment to the environment and local communities and focused on supporting sustainability in Greece, Nova, a member of United Group, the leading telecommunications and media provider in Southeast Europe, conducted an environmental volunteer action with the participation of its employees and their families in the area of Penteli Monastery in Attica. This initiative continues the extensive reforestation work on 70 acres of burned land, implemented by Nova in previous months, with the planting of 5,400 saplings.
Nova team conducts new environmental volunteer action at Penteli Monastery
Nova employees and their families, with support from the General Directorate of Forests and the Penteli Forest Service, proceeded with watering, hoeing and fertilizing young saplings, contributing to the restoration of a vital green lung of Attica. This is a necessary environmental intervention that enhances the effectiveness of reforestation, after a particularly demanding summer with high temperatures and minimal rainfall, which poses a risk to the survival of new trees. The action took place on Friday, September 25, 2025.
The reforestation of the Penteli Monastery area is part of Nova’s corporate responsibility program worth €1 million for environmental restoration and natural disaster prevention, utilizing innovative technological solutions. This initiative follows large-scale restoration projects in Dadia National Park in Evros and the island of Rhodes, as well as the undertaking and development of the ICT project “Smart Forest Rhodes“, an intelligent fire prevention and management system using artificial intelligence tools, and Nova’s initiative for primary research on the consequences of the climate crisis on GDP and the importance of prevention through technology use.
