Among the world’s “hottest” artificial intelligence companies is now a startup with Greek DNA, born from two former DeepMind researchers. Reflection AI, founded in 2024 by Ioannis Antonoglou and Misha Laskin, announced a record-breaking new funding round of $2 billion led by Nvidia, raising its valuation to $8 billion and following in the footsteps of OpenAI and Anthropic.
Major names from the technology and investment scene participated in the new round, including former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, Citi, as well as 1789 Capital, the private equity fund backed by Donald Trump Jr. Sequoia and Lightspeed Venture Partners, who had supported Reflection AI from its early steps, returned dynamically to this funding round as well.
