Piraeus Bank and “MDA Greece – Association for the Care of People with Neuromuscular Diseases” announced the launch of a strategic partnership aimed at substantially strengthening and improving the quality of life for children and adults with neuromuscular diseases in Greece. Under the new collaboration, Piraeus will support the operation of the Neuromuscular Diseases Unit of the 2nd Pediatric Clinic of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki at AHEPA Hospital in Thessaloniki, which since 2007 has provided comprehensive medical and psychosocial care to more than 400 patients from across Northern Greece, Thessaly, Epirus and the North Aegean islands. The Unit is staffed by a specialized multidisciplinary team and covers both minor and adult patients with neuromuscular diseases. MDA Greece’s support over all these years has been crucial for its daily operation, offering psychological and social support, as well as material and technical coverage. This initiative is implemented within the framework of Piraeus’ Corporate Responsibility program “EQUALL – For a Society of Equal People” and falls under the pillar of vulnerable social groups. Through EQUALL, the Bank provides practical support to vulnerable social groups – such as people with disabilities – and promotes social integration and inclusion, creating conditions for equal opportunities for everyone. Opportunities that contribute to upgrading their quality of life and achieving their goals for personal and professional progress.
Through the new partnership, MDA Greece will be substantially strengthened to continue offering specialized services and expand its activities to more beneficiaries. Referring to this initiative, the Bank’s CEO, Christos Megalou emphasized: “The creative cooperation we are starting with MDA Greece and its distinguished partners, known for their sensitivity and contribution, gives Piraeus the opportunity to contribute to the important work that the Association is already performing with remarkable effectiveness. The multifaceted support of our vulnerable fellow citizens, who obviously deserve equal opportunities and unobstructed ability to pursue their goals for quality of life, personal development and progress, constitutes one of the central objectives of the Corporate Responsibility program ‘EQUALL – For a Society of Equal People’. We continuously expand our initiatives seeking to respond to social needs and consistently strengthen our positive contribution to the country’s path towards progress and prosperity for all.”
From MDA Greece’s side, the Board President, Vana Lavida emphasized: “The cooperation with Piraeus constitutes a pivotal point for MDA Greece. The support of such an important financial institution gives us the opportunity to expand our services and activities, strengthen our programs and continue to stand as helpers to the undeniable needs of people with neuromuscular diseases and their families. We warmly thank them for their trust.”
Piraeus and MDA Greece commit to working together to achieve tangible results that will substantially improve the daily life and prospects of people with neuromuscular diseases in Greece.
