The PPC Group is participating in the European research program SOLARIS (Grant Agreement no. 101146377), which aims to develop more efficient, reliable and economically viable operation and maintenance strategies for photovoltaic (PV) systems in Europe. The program is co-funded by Horizon Europe, runs for four years (2024–2028) and is coordinated by the Technical University of Denmark.

SOLARIS creates an integrated set of physical and digital tools that improve forecasting, enhance performance and support the maintenance of photovoltaic plants, aiming to increase the efficiency and availability of installations while reducing the cost of generated energy by 10%.
PPC actively participates in the project by providing the ‘Bitakos’ solar park with 2.6 MW capacity
It should be noted that PPC actively participates in the project by providing the “Bitakos” photovoltaic park with 2.6 MW capacity, located in Kastro-Lykovouni, as a testing field for the practical application and validation of SOLARIS solutions under real operating conditions. In this context, data is collected such as meteorological measurements, dust accumulation through sensors, energy production data, photovoltaic panel characteristics, as well as information on cleaning and maintenance procedures.
At the same time, PPC has undertaken the design of the project’s exploitation strategy, focusing on the development of business models and market analysis, in order to maximize the application and commercial exploitation of SOLARIS results. PPC’s role requires close cooperation and knowledge exchange with all partners with the goal of creating added value to the project’s research results.
Participation in SOLARIS is part of the Group’s strategy for leveraging digital tools and promoting sustainable investments in Renewable Energy Sources. The transformation of PPC into the Powertech Group includes, among other things, the systematic integration of innovation, strengthening technological capability and continuous improvement of energy efficiency. SOLARIS, like the TWINVEST, RAIDO, DCFlex and XTRUST-6G projects, constitute important steps in this direction, strengthening PPC’s role in the European energy transition.
