Globalstar, one of the world’s largest satellite infrastructure and technology providers, is extending its partnership with COSMOTE TELEKOM, doubling the capacity of its satellite station at COSMOTE TELEKOM’s state-of-the-art Satellite Communications Center facilities in Nemea. The new installation includes three additional satellite antennas and related ground station infrastructure, as part of Globalstar’s third-generation C-3 satellite constellation development. The Nemea project is part of an international ground station development program at key geographic points worldwide.
For the project’s requirements, COSMOTE TELEKOM has undertaken infrastructure preparation for integrating Globalstar’s specialized equipment at its Satellite Center in Nemea. With cutting-edge satellite infrastructure and high technical expertise, it provides comprehensive teleport-as-a-service solutions, ensures uninterrupted connectivity between satellites and ground, and offers 24×7 technical support from specialized personnel.
The partnership between the two parties began in 2020, with the construction of the first three antennas of the ground station in Nemea. The choice of Nemea is based on, among other factors, its privileged geographical position, ideal weather conditions, and reliable infrastructure, which ensure high availability essential for effective satellite communications operations.
L. Barbee Ponder, General Counsel & Vice President of Regulatory Affairs, Globalstar, stated: “Greece and Nemea constitute a critical hub for implementing our new infrastructure in Europe. Our new antennas will communicate with the most advanced satellite services system. We thank COSMOTE TELEKOM for their excellent cooperation, technical support, and flexibility.”
Georgios Tsonis, Chief Technology Officer of OTE Group, commented: “We are particularly pleased with the trust that Globalstar shows in COSMOTE TELEKOM for expanding its satellite infrastructure in Europe. The broadening of our partnership strengthens Greece’s position on the global satellite communications map and confirms our role as a strategic partner for leading satellite providers.”
