With a special event in the traditional village of Danilia, Grecotel celebrated its 50-year presence, honoring Corfu — the island that became a milestone in the Group’s journey. The evening was dedicated to the local community, employees, cultural organizations, and people who have supported Grecotel’s vision throughout all these years. The event took place on Tuesday, July 29, in the presence of institutional representatives from the region, including Ionian Islands Regional Governor Mr. Ioannis Trepeklis, the Mayors of Corfu and North Corfu, Mr. Stefanos Poulimenos and Mr. Georgios Maheimaris, as well as the Rector of the Ionian University, Mr. Andreas Floros.
The Group’s founder, Nikos Daskalantonakis, and CEO, Mary Daskalantonaki, welcomed guests expressing their gratitude for the island’s long-term cooperation and trust. A central element of the evening was the moving participation of four historic Philharmonic orchestras of Corfu – “Palia,” “Mantzaros,” “Spyros Samaras,” and “Kapodistrias” – with more than 150 musicians filling the space with sounds and memories, offering a unique cultural spectacle. The Nikos Daskalantonakis – Grecotel Foundation announced it will support the island’s philharmonic orchestras, recognizing their timeless contribution to culture.
Grecotel also honored employees with over 20 years of presence in the Group, as well as retirees and partners, in an environment that embodied the company’s core values: hospitality, respect for tradition, culture, and development. “Corfu is a cornerstone of our history. Tonight, we reciprocate the love and support that the local community has shown us with a celebration from the heart,” said Ms. Mary Daskalantonaki. The 50th anniversary celebrations of Grecotel will continue in other regions of Greece, as a sign of gratitude to the places and people who have contributed decisively to the Group’s successful journey.
