Faithful to its vision to “Brew for a better today and tomorrow,” Olympiakí Ziythopoiía published its Annual Sustainability Report for 2024, transparently showcasing its performance and commitment to the three core ESG pillars: Environment, Society, and Corporate Governance. Despite the challenges that characterized 2024 for the industry, the company confirms its continuous progress and strengthens its position as a responsible and future-oriented business organization.
In this context, it continues to consistently implement the “Together Towards ZERO and Beyond” strategy, which is an integral part of the Carlsberg Group’s international ESG framework. With objectives extending to 2030 and 2040, this strategy has been integrated into the core of the company’s daily operations, making Olympiakí Ziythopoiía a reference point for sustainable development in Greece’s brewing industry.
Olympiakí Ziythopoiía: Strengthens “Together Towards ZERO and Beyond” strategy
In the Environment sector, Olympiakí Ziythopoiía remains committed to reducing its footprint across the entire value chain. Aiming to achieve zero carbon footprint across its entire value chain by 2040, it has already reduced CO₂ emissions by 19% over the past six years. In 2024, investments in energy interventions at its facilities in Sindos and Ritsona led to savings of nearly 1,000 MWh, while actions such as using more “green” transportation and upgrading cooling equipment contributed to reducing energy consumption at all points in the supply chain.
Strengthening sustainable use of natural resources
Simultaneously, the company strengthens the sustainable use of natural resources. Over the past six years, it managed to reduce water consumption in production by 19% again, additionally making investments that will annually reduce consumption by approximately 8,500 m3. Similarly, with changes to its product packaging, it enhances their recycling methods, while simultaneously increasing the use of recycled materials in them.
In the Society pillar, Olympiakí Ziythopoiía systematically invests in creating a safe, participatory, and modern work environment. In 2024, its employees participated in more than 9,500 hours of training on topics such as leadership, technical skills, and awareness, with 5,400 hours dedicated exclusively to Health and Safety issues. The culture of zero accidents was further strengthened through practical programs and educational initiatives at all levels of the company’s activities. The company steadily promotes responsible alcohol consumption, enhancing the availability of products with zero or low alcohol content, and ensures that 100% of its packaging and communications carry clear messages of moderation and responsibility. Additionally, it implements social inclusion, equality, and diversity initiatives, demonstrating in practice that inclusion is an integral element of its identity.
Olympiakí Ziythopoiía continues to operate with consistency, transparency, and responsibility
In the Governance pillar, Olympiakí Ziythopoiía continues to operate with consistency, transparency, and responsibility, applying the principles of the Code of Ethics and Conduct, in full alignment with Carlsberg Group standards. In 2024, all new employees were trained in the Code’s values, while specialized seminars were conducted in high-risk areas, such as personal data protection and prevention of bribery incidents.
Marcin Burdach, Managing Director of Olympiakí Ziythopoiía, noted: “At Olympiakí Ziythopoiía, we constantly demonstrate that sustainability is the beacon for how we choose to brew – responsibly, cohesively, with the future as our horizon. In this context, last year, we steadily continued implementing our ESG strategy ‘Together Towards ZERO and Beyond,’ which is an integral part of the broader SAIL’27 strategy of the Carlsberg Group. The initiatives and results reflected in the 2024 Report demonstrate that our strategy is substantially integrated into our daily operations, with significant actions and progress across all three ESG pillars.”
