A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on March 19, 2026, between METLEN and Naval Group, aimed at exploring cooperation opportunities in the submarine and surface vessel sectors. The signing took place at the facilities of M Technologies, METLEN’s defense arm, in the presence of France’s ambassador to Greece, Laurence Auer. As noted, the Memorandum represents another step in strengthening the already existing cooperation between the two companies, positioning METLEN as a strategic partner in Naval Group’s supply chain. The French company is already leveraging METLEN’s expertise in manufacturing key components for FDI frigates, intended for both Greek and French naval programs.

Additionally, it is recognized that METLEN’s specialization creates prospects for expanding cooperation across multiple naval platforms, including surface vessels and submarines, with focus on international markets as well.
According to the same sources, the agreement reflects the common pursuit of both parties to support complex naval systems and contribute to strengthening a competitive European defense ecosystem, while simultaneously reinforcing Franco-Greek industrial cooperation.
When did the cooperation between the two companies begin
The cooperation between the two companies began in 2022 within the framework of the FDI frigate program for the Hellenic Navy, with Naval Group implementing a Greek Industrial Participation program, involving more than 70 Greek companies.
METLEN continues to invest in the defense industry
As highlighted, beyond this specific program, the cooperation has already yielded economic benefits for Greek industry, facilitating the integration of Greek companies into Naval Group’s supply chain for both existing and future programs. For its part, METLEN continues to invest in the defense industry, including through the development of an industrial hub of six factories in Volos (M Technologies Defence Hub), strengthening its role in supporting European defense programs and strategic autonomy in the defense sector.
