The major urban redevelopment of Ellinikon is increasingly being promoted at European level as an example of a modern city development model. Executives from LAMDA Development traveled to Brussels to present the progress and philosophy of The Ellinikon project at the event “Next-generation urban development: Building the cities of tomorrow” to institutional stakeholders and representatives of the European business and political community. During the event held at the European Parliament on the initiative of MEP Dimitris Tsiouras, key aspects of the project were presented and how Ellinikon aspires to function as an example of sustainable urban development.

LAMDA Development: technological innovation and human-centered design
LAMDA executives presented The Ellinikon to MEPs, officials from the European Commission and European Parliament, representatives of European organizations and institutions, and the business community – a European case study in urban regeneration, sustainability and inclusion that transforms a former abandoned space of decades into a “smart” 15-minute city – a living and modern ecosystem that contributes to economic and social progress, shaping a living example for the cities of the future.
As stated in the announcement, in a European environment where climate adaptation, resilient infrastructure and modern urban center models are increasingly high on the public agenda, The Ellinikon proves that technological innovation, human-centered design and private initiative can coexist, combine and deliver measurable public value.
The project is fully aligned with the EU Circular Economy Action Plan, the EU Green Deal and the principles of the New European Bauhaus.
As Europe seeks to lead in creating urban models with climate-neutral footprints and human-centered focus, The Ellinikon emerges as a contemporary paradigm for how European values translate into everyday living experience.
Aiming to establish The Ellinikon as a viable model for integrating the aforementioned European policies at city scale and highlighting it as an international standard for creating urban regenerations and redefining the Mediterranean way of life, LAMDA Development’s presence in Brussels included a series of contacts with European institutions, representatives of the Greek mission to the European Union, the Greek community of Brussels as well as experts and journalists.
LAMDA Development executives held meetings with Commissioner for Sustainable Transport and Tourism Apostolos Tzitzikostas, with Greece’s Permanent Representative to the EU, Ambassador Ioannis Vraila, as well as with former European Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas. The meetings took place within the framework of exchanging views on the prospects for sustainable development of European cities and the role of major urban regeneration projects.
In parallel, a roundtable with journalists was held, during which key aspects of The Ellinikon’s development and its significance for the European discussion around sustainable urban development were presented, and a dinner was organized with members of the Network of Greeks in Brussels “ARGO”, where the project was showcased.
