AKTOR Group and ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group have reached an exclusive strategic partnership agreement, aimed at coordinating their participation in the upcoming tender for the commercial concession of Elefsina Port, which is set to be announced by the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations. This particular concession is estimated to constitute one of the most significant development projects in Greece, in the sectors of transport, supply chain and shipping.
The two Groups have distinct and complementary characteristics that ensure effective role distribution: AKTOR Group undertakes the construction aspect of infrastructure, while ONEX Group handles the management and operation of port infrastructure and activities. The relevant announcement states that the partnership between the two parties aims to create an international maritime hub in Greece, which could position the country at the center of global trade flows.
AKTOR Group possesses extensive expertise in constructing complex infrastructure projects, port works and large-scale port facilities, as well as years of experience in concession projects, with a portfolio numbering 16 major concession and PPP projects. ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group brings to the partnership the deep know-how and experience it has acquired as a catalyst in reviving the shipbuilding industry in Greece. Within the framework of its plan to create a model, integrated hub of shipbuilding, defense, industry, technology and energy, ONEX Group has entered dynamically into port management through its subsidiary Onex Elefsis Port.
It should be noted that ONEX Group, owning private port facilities, participates in the Board of Directors of ELIME (Greek Ports Association). This broad footprint, combined with the momentum of the Group’s recent international agreements, strengthens the strategic depth of this alliance and accelerates the implementation of the vision to transform Elefsina into a maritime and industrial reference hub.
