With a dynamic presence at the internationally acclaimed Battlefield ReDEFiNED 2026 exhibition, Hellas Sat confirmed its upgraded strategic role in the European security, defense, and space communications architecture. The company’s participation marked a clear turning point, signaling the transition from strategic planning to operational implementation while establishing itself as critical infrastructure of European significance. This milestone was sealed with the signing of a European cooperation agreement for the Hellas Sat 5 satellite.

This Hellas Sat agreement with companies and government agencies of undisputed prestige and value, specifically Thales Alenia Space, CNES and Safran, which was announced and signed in Nicosia, becomes strategically significant as it transforms the company into an outstanding infrastructure of excellence capable of supporting complex government and critical defense missions at the European level, substantially contributing to strengthening European communications autonomy.
The significance of the Hellas Sat 5 mission transcends the technical dimension of the project as it seeks to combine the development of integrated space and terrestrial infrastructure, utilizing cutting-edge optical communication ground stations. This approach reflects the modern requirement for high-security communication systems capable of simultaneously covering defense needs, government services, civil protection, and other critical operational requirements.
In this context, optical (laser) satellite communications are not a future prospect but are decisively integrated into the new demanding operational reality. High data transmission speeds, enhanced security levels, interference resistance, and seamless interoperability with European systems compose a new operational standard, perfectly aligned with the geopolitical and technological challenges of our time.
Hellas Sat: Goal to provide solutions that enhance security and guarantee European autonomy and digital sovereignty
