As she stated, she had no idea about her husband’s criminal activities, although she had suspected he was having homosexual relationships. “I thought he was involved with men, not with minors,” she said characteristically, adding: “I thought it was something temporary. When I confronted him about it, he denied it and called me crazy. He’s the father of my children, but I knew nothing about children being involved.”
Volos: 58-year-old coast guard officer had previously engaged in similar acts with the same minors
After completing his testimony, neither the 58-year-old coast guard officer nor his lawyer made any statements.
The case file against him includes charges for sexual acts with minors in exchange for money, both completed and attempted, while a private citizen is listed as an accomplice.
The preliminary investigation revealed evidence that the officer had previously engaged in similar acts with the same minors and one additional victim, with the assistance of his co-defendant in one instance.
During searches of his home and car, authorities confiscated a mobile phone, bed linens, and seat covers, which were sent to the Criminological Research Directorate for laboratory examination.
The 58-year-old also faces charges of breach of duty and bribery, along with two citizens aged 35 and 29, and another 56-year-old lieutenant commander serving in a Magnesia service. The latter is expected to be referred to the Naval Court and has announced plans to retire at the end of the year.
His wife was not with him at court today and did not visit him in detention.
