A post about the first data from the implementation of the new institutional framework for determining the age of asylum seekers was made by Thanos Plevris, Minister of Migration and Asylum on X. It is noted that the first data from the implementation of the new institutional framework for determining the age of asylum seekers, which came into force in late August, following a joint ministerial decision of the Ministries of Migration and Asylum and Health, is particularly revealing.
Specifically, Thanos Plevris, in his post, presented the results of the first age verification examinations on undocumented migrants, following the issuance of the relevant joint ministerial decision in August, which provides for additional medical examinations to confirm the minor status of those claiming to be minors.
“In August, we issued with Adonis Georgiadis and Sevy Voloudaki a joint ministerial decision for further medical verification of the minor status of illegal migrants claiming to be minors. Out of the first 104 suspicious cases examined, 59 were adults. The consequences for those who made false declarations are self-evident,” the minister noted.
