The two wounded men belonging to the Fragkiadakis family who are hospitalized at PAGNI have been ordered into temporary detention after giving their testimonies regarding the bloody clash that occurred in Vorízia, Heraklion last Saturday. The two family members are believed to have actively participated in the massacre, and the detention order was issued after they testified before the Heraklion Investigative Judge who visited the hospital. According to reports, they are the 25-year-old brother of the 27-year-old homeowner where the grenade explosion occurred and their 30-year-old cousin.

The testimony proceedings for both men began with delays, as the investigative judge had already examined statements from women of the Fragkiadakis family, including the mother of the four brothers and the wife of one of the accused. Meanwhile, the 43-year-old arrested suspect, son-in-law of 39-year-old Fanouris Kargakis, was also called before the investigator. He is considered the main suspect in the death of 56-year-old Evangelia Fragkiadakis from the bloody confrontation.
Video evidence emerges implicating Fanouris Kargakis’s son-in-law
Notably, authorities are scrutinizing video evidence that implicates the son-in-law of Fanouris Kargakis, showing him firing a Kalashnikov during the bloody clash that occurred in Vorízia, Heraklion on Saturday morning (01/11). He was arrested and brought Thursday morning (06/11) wearing a bulletproof vest to the Heraklion courthouse before the prosecutor. Following police investigations, today saw the apprehension of the second man standing beside the armed perpetrator, according to parapolitika.gr. According to sources, the man has been identified as the 50-year-old cousin of the 43-year-old son-in-law of the victim. Specifically, this afternoon heavily armed police arrived outside the house of the 43-year-old son-in-law’s cousin. According to Mega TV reports, after his apprehension an arrest warrant was issued and he was transferred to the Heraklion Police Directorate.

Vorízia: 43-year-old granted deadline to testify next Monday
It should be noted that the 43-year-old son-in-law of 39-year-old Fanouris Kargakis appeared before the Heraklion prosecutor shortly before 11 AM, as one of the central figures in the deadly clash that shocked Vorízia last Saturday. The accused was brought under heavy security measures to the Court Building, wearing a bulletproof vest according to flashnews.gr reports, accompanied by heavily armed police officers. The 43-year-old was arrested Wednesday following a police operation in a rural area, where authorities discovered a cave in his field property containing weapons and ammunition allegedly connected to the suspect. His arrest was made under weapons possession charges, however the preliminary investigation that followed also focused on his participation in the bloodshed.
After appearing before the prosecutor, the 43-year-old man was charged with the completed homicide of Evangelia Fragkiadakis. Additionally, he faces charges of attempted premeditated homicide in multiple counts, and illegal possession and use of military firearms. The 43-year-old was granted a deadline to testify next Monday.
