The National Security Council meeting concluded shortly after 2:00 PM on Wednesday (2/7) under the leadership of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. During the session, officials briefed and assessed the latest developments in the region, with focus on the crisis in the Middle East.
This marks the third National Security Council meeting in the past 20 days, following similar sessions on June 13 and June 22.

Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis announced:
“The Government Council for National Security (KYSEA) convened under Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. During the meeting, officials briefed and assessed the latest developments in the region.
Regarding migration, the need for cooperation with Libyan authorities was emphasized to prevent the establishment of a new migration route from eastern Libya to Crete. The European dimension of the issue was also highlighted in view of upcoming visits to Libya by both Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis and EU Commissioner Magnus Brunner. Armed Forces procurement matters were also discussed”.

Tomorrow, Thursday July 3 at 10:00 AM, Foreign Minister Giorgos Gerapetritis will brief the Parliamentary Committee on National Defense and Foreign Affairs on the latest Middle East developments.
It should be noted that after an unexpected escalation in the Middle East, as Israel launched an attack on Iran, war broke out between the two sides, which ended with a fragile ceasefire following American bomber raids on Iranian nuclear facilities.
