Statement from the SYRIZA-PS Parliamentary Group Presidium
The Presidium of the Parliamentary Group of SYRIZA Progressive Alliance met today regarding the shocking developments in the blue OPEKEPE scandal.
The government set up a network of favoritism and clientelism, on the backs of farmers. Moreover, according to the latest revelations, it is proven that the prime minister knew about his officials’ involvement in the scandal.
Corruption is not simply tolerated by the Mitsotakis government. It is the norm.
Our position is that the immediate establishment of a Preliminary Committee is required for a scandal of such magnitude.
It is necessary to accelerate procedures so that all those involved who are mentioned in the European Prosecutor’s case file can be held accountable.
And obviously, after these revelations, the country must be freed from the darkness of Mr. Mitsotakis’ government. Calling elections and the emergence of a progressive government is necessary for the regeneration of Greek society.
