Two 18-year-olds from Sudan and South Sudan were arrested by port authorities in Crete in connection with the 143 migrants discovered on Tuesday (21/10) on Gavdos.

Specifically, according to flashnews.gr, the two 18-year-olds were identified by the other migrants as the traffickers who transported them from Tobruk, Libya to Greece in exchange for payment.
The two young men were arrested for violations of articles 83 of Law 3386/2005 “Illegal entry into the country,” 25 of Law 5038/2023 “Trafficking” as amended by Law 5079/2023, and 306 of the Penal Code “Endangerment.”
